After an eventful working life of over 35 years my wife Mahalakshmi (Maha) and I moved to Coimbatore to enjoy our 3rd Innings of life. We live at Santosham, a comfort home for senior citizens. To spend our time usefully, we decided to establish a study centre for deserving underprivileged school children. We were fortunate to locate an independent house close to our residence, which we bought and renovated, for the purpose of running the study centre.

At Kalvi Thunai we help School children from the weaker sections of the society. The focus is in helping them complete their school homework and revise the day's lessons. In our opinion, if they complete their home work, they will be willing to go to school confidently. We started with students from class IV to class IX. Gradually we added qualified teachers to coach students of classes X, XI & XII as well. From the academic year, starting June 2014, we have students from class IV to class XII. We had restricted the total number of students to 105 in view of the constraint of the place and qualified teachers.
DISCOVER OUR WORKAs of now we have 17 teaching staff, of this 10 are paid teachers and 7 volunteers. The evening session is from 4.30pm to 8.30pm. During the day, we reach out to students who have discontinued from classes X and XII and urge them to complete their course.
